Studio: We’ll Make Sixth Twilight Movie If Stephenie Meyer Writes New Book

(GettyImages.com) There are more indications that The Twilight Saga could continue after Breaking Dawn Part 2, the fifth and (assumed to be) final film in the hit vampire series. On Friday, Lionsgate executive Rob Friedman said that the studio would develop an additional movie should Twilight author Stephenie Meyer decide to write a fifth book. “If she wishes to do it, we’ll be there to support her,” THR quotes Friedman as saying during a call with analysts. As Gossip Cop reported last month, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer also hinted at the studio’s desire for a sixth film following the purchase of Summit Entertainment, the franchise’s home. The trailer for Breaking Dawn Part 2 will debut with The Hunger Games’ theatrical release in March. Last month, Breaking Dawn Part 1 passed the $700 million mark globally. Rob and Kristen – though lovely actors – cannot play teenagers anymore and should not have to. All good things come to an end. Linda No way would Rob or Kristen agree to take part in any more Twilight. Twilight needs to end now. Mel Stephenie Meyer probably wants to move on and write other things. She also has The Host movie to think about now. The actors are aging and can’t play the characters for that much longer and I won’t support other actors in their roles. They probably want to do other movies, or just time to breathe. Breaking Dawn is the end and it should stay that way. It’s a perfectly good ending, there’s no reason to drag it out. Everyone knew this series would come to an end eventually. Twilight fan Even the biggest Twilight fans can see that making a 6th film is a ridiculous idea! The series is over and anything extra to the story will just ruin the saga as a whole. Friedman would be commiting career suicide if the studio followed through with this – both business wise and from a creative perspective any additional films would be no where near as successful! Even if another book is written, it should NOT be made into a film. Heatherdecor8s Let’s not get all negative nelly on Stephenie and her writing style. Stephanie has stated many times that she began this (the Twilight series), as a writing exercise. She wrote it for herself and initially hadn’t planned on sharing it with anyone other than family and a few close friends, much less on publishing it for the whole world. While it is true that part of what has drawn us to this franchise is the chemistry between Rob and Kristen/Taylor, but it is also the magic between the cast and the fresh concepts in the story. It doesn’t happen with every cast and script but it most certainly did this time. I agree with the others who have stated it would be fun to see Rob and Kristen in other projects together. I certainly enjoyed seeing Taylor in “Abduction”. On one hand it is sad to know that after November 16, 2012 we Twilight fans won’t have anymore new “Twilight” movies or books (unless Stephenie does complete “Midnight Sun”), but on the other hand hasn’t it been a fun ride, being part of making this the the phenomenom it has become. We can journal and scrapbook all our special memories and moments like spending the night waiting in line to get tickets to see the cast in person during their promo events. or all our ticket stubs from the movies. Our pictures that we’ve taken of our friends sitting in the theatre during the “Twilight” movie marathon. All of these will help us keep the memories fresh in our hearts and minds. One day you will be able to share all of your cherished books, movies and memorabilia with your children and grandchildren when they come home one day so excited about a book or movie they want to see or read about. LyingsGate and Scummit can make a million more twi movies but me and my friends won’t be standing in line, camping out or buying any more merchandise: NOT giving these greedy studios any more money especially Scummit. We love Rob and Kristen and we so hope they will continue to move on with their careers. Even with the last installment there is too much of an “ick” factor with Jacob imprinting on a baby? Why couldn’t Meyers write the story that Jacob imprinting on a girl his age and the exact opposite of Bella? Bella actually have to compete with another girl for Jacob’s attention and affection is a much more interesting story IMO, especially how it would impact her marriage to Edward.
