LAS VEGAS — Newt Gingrich introduced a variation to his long-running attack on Mitt Romney as insufficiently conservative on Friday, saying that if “Obama is big food stamp,’’ Mr. Romney is “little food stamp.’’

The jab was aimed at Mr. Romney’s comment earlier in the week that he did not worry about the “very poor” because they could rely on a safety net of government services.

After a day or two of damage control on the issue, Mr. Romney may have moved on confidently in anticipation of a decisive victory in the Nevada caucuses on Saturday, as a recent state poll suggested. But Mr. Gingrich, hoping for a strong second-place finish that will win him delegates to the Republican National Convention, was not done with the issue.

During a late-morning rally at a cowboy bar, Stoney’s Rockin’ Country, that drew an enthusiastic crowd of about 200, he equated Mr. Romney’s attitude toward the poor with the liberal worldview of President Obama. He contrasted it with his own “genuine conservative” position; namely, that what the poor really need from government are pro-growth, pro-job policies.

“We think it is the left which has abandoned and betrayed the poor because its safety net is actually a spider web and it traps people古装悬疑电视剧
in dependency,’’ Mr. Gingrich said. “My goal is the exact opposite of Governor Romney’s. My goal is to turn the safety net into a trampoline to allow the poor to rise and be like the rest of us.’’

Mr. Gingrich was revising one of his signature attacks on President Obama – that he is a “food stamp president” – to include Mr. Romney as “little food stamp.”

And he added another variation on his theme that Mr. Romney is a moderate closer to the president than what the conservative base of the Republican Party wants. He described a new video his campaign released on Friday that uses recent 悬疑电影推荐
comments by George Soros, who said, “There isn’t all that much difference” between Mr. Obama and Mr. Romney.

Mention of Mr. Soros, a billionaire whose support of liberal causes has made him a caricature villain in conservative circles, elicited boos and catcalls from the crowd. That delighted Mr. Gingrich, who offered, “See, at least you have an idea who George Soros is.’’

The new video, he said, compared the similarities between Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama on health care, which he labeled “Obamneycare,’’ a phrase coined by a former presidential hopeful, Tim Pawlenty.

“It isn’t good enough for the Republican Party 经典悬疑电影
to nominate Obama Lite,’’ Mr. Gingrich said at the club, whose floor was strewn with sawdust in anticipation of line dancers later in the evening.
